June 30, 2025—ACA Connects: America’s Communications Association released the following statement after the Supreme Court decided it will hear the case Cox Communications, Inc. v. Sony Music Entertainment, to determine whether broadband providers should be held liable when their subscribers commit online music piracy.
“ACA Connects is grateful to the Supreme Court for taking this case. It marks an important opportunity for the Court to provide clarity, create a commonsense legal framework, and protect an open, affordable, and reliable internet,” said ACA Connects President and CEO Grant Spellmeyer. “Broadband providers look forward to their day in court to address legal overreach on music copyright infringement that could fundamentally change the internet as we know it.”
