ACA Connects Statement on FCC Order Shortening STIR/SHAKEN Deadline for Non-Facilities-Based Voice Providers

PITTSBURGH, December 10, 2021 – The following statement can be attributed to ACA Connects President and CEO Matthew M. Polka:

“On December 10, the FCC issued an Order shortening the STIR/SHAKEN implementation deadline by one year, i.e., from June 30, 2023, to June 30, 2022, for non-facilities-based small voice providers.

“With today’s Order, the FCC has taken an important step forward in the fight against unlawful robocalls.

“ACA Connects applauds the FCC for adopting a tailored approach, consistent with our advocacy, that targets those providers most likely to be the source of illegal calls without sweeping in community-based providers that are working hard to deliver voice, broadband, and other communications services to their communities. We look forward to continued collaboration with the FCC, our industry peers, and other stakeholders to defeat the robocalls scourge once and for all.”
