FCC Commissioner Olivia Trusty to Take the Stage at The Independent Show

May 5, 2026—America’s Communications Association (ACA Connects) today announced that FCC Commissioner Olivia Trusty will be a keynote speaker at The Independent Show (TIS) at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

Commissioner Trusty will participate in a fireside chat with President and CEO of America’s Communications Association Grant Spellmeyer, where she will discuss her work at the FCC to empower independent providers to deploy more broadband, increase investment, and ensure rural communities play a leading role in America’s emerging technologies.

“We’re honored to welcome Commissioner Olivia Trusty to The Independent Show,” said Spellmeyer. “With more than a decade of experience at the center of telecommunications and national security policymaking, Commissioner Trusty is uniquely equipped to offer a behind-the-scenes perspective on the major regulatory decisions shaping the broadband, video, and mobile industry today. Attendees will hear directly from her on how the FCC is taking action on everything from accelerating fiber deployments to strengthening the security of our nation’s critical communications infrastructure.”

Olivia Trusty was nominated to serve as a Commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) by President Donald J. Trump. She was confirmed by the United States Senate in June 2025.

Prior to joining the Commission, Commissioner Trusty served as a Professional Staff Member on the U.S. Senate Committee on Armed Services under the leadership of U.S. Senator Roger F. Wicker. She previously served as a Policy Director on the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation and a Legislative Assistant in the Office of U.S. Senator Roger F. Wicker. Before her tenure as a Senate aide, Commissioner Trusty served as a Professional Staff Member on the U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce and a Legislative Assistant to U.S. Congressman Bob Latta. Commissioner Trusty began her career in the private sector.

The Independent Show will take place July 26–29 at the Yacht & Beach Club Convention Center at Walt Disney World in Florida. TIS brings together members of the National Content & Technology Cooperative (NCTC) and ACA Connects who are at the forefront of providing high-speed internet, video, phone, and mobile services across the country.
