April 8, 2025—Grant Spellmeyer, the President and CEO of ACA Connects: America’s Communications Association, released the following statement after the House Energy and Commerce Committee approved several pieces of legislation to help more Americans access secure and reliable high-speed internet.
“ACA Connects applauds the House Energy and Commerce Committee for advancing the NTIA Reauthorization Act, the Rural Broadband Protection Act, and other communications measures that will help foster more investment, innovation, and network security in broadband.”
“The NTIA Reauthorization Act will elevate the role of the agency in communications policymaking. This is especially important as NTIA works to strengthen and streamline the BEAD program so it successfully meets its connectivity mandate. The Rural Broadband Protection Act will help ensure that the Universal Service Fund supports the deployment of rural broadband by capable providers.
“Thank you to the Members of the Committee, including Chairman Brett Guthrie, Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Communications and Technology Subcommittee Chairman Richard Hudson, and Communications and Technology Subcommittee Ranking Member Doris Matsui for leading to connect rural America.”
