April 28, 2025—Grant Spellmeyer, the President and CEO of ACA Connects: America’s Communications Association, released the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed several pieces of legislation to help more Americans access secure and reliable high-speed internet.
“ACA Connects and our members are grateful for the House of Representatives for passing these bills with strong bipartisan support. The NTIA Reauthorization Act will elevate the role of the agency in communications policymaking. This is especially important as NTIA works to strengthen and streamline the BEAD program to meet its connectivity mandate. The Rural Broadband Protection Act will help ensure that the Universal Service Fund supports the deployment of rural broadband by capable providers.
“Thank you to Members of Congress who serve on the Energy and Commerce Committee for leading on these solutions to help foster more investment, innovation, and network security in broadband, particularly in rural America.”
