June 25, 2025—ACA Connects: America’s Communications Association urges the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to eliminate the professional engineer certification requirement for the biannual Broadband Data Collection filings and instead allow the biannual filings to be certified by a qualified engineer that has relevant minimum experience and education.
“In our ‘Delete, Delete, Delete’ comments and other filings to the FCC, ACA Connects has repeatedly urged the Commission to officially remove the burdensome professional engineer certification requirement,” said ACA Connects President and CEO Grant Spellmeyer. “We’re pleased this is part of the FCC’s agenda for tomorrow’s open meeting. The Commission waived this requirement many times in the past, and the time has come to provide a permanent fix. Our Members look forward to having certainty that this unworkable requirement will no longer threaten the ability of their qualified engineers from submitting accurate broadband deployment data.”
