ACA Applauds Sen. Rockefeller's Online Video Choice Bill

PITTSBURGH, November 12, 2013 – American Cable Association President and CEO Matthew M. Polka issued the following statement regarding the Consumer Choice in Online Video Act offered by Senate Commerce Committee Chairman Rockefeller:

“ACA applauds Chairman Rockefeller for his leadership on some of the most important issues that will shape the future of the video marketplace. ACA shares the Chairman’s concerns, as reflected in his bill, about the ease with which certain existing players in the market can use their market power to harm consumers and impede competition.  This is a significant concern for small cable operators and reflects the need to consider a new approach.  We look forward to working with the Chairman on these issues.”

About the American Cable Association: Based in Pittsburgh, the American Cable Association is a trade organization representing about 850 smaller and medium-sized, independent cable companies who provide broadband services for more than 7 million cable subscribers primarily located in rural and smaller suburban markets across America.  Through active participation in the regulatory and legislative process in Washington, D.C., ACA’s members work together to advance the interests of their customers and ensure the future competitiveness and viability of their business.  For more information, visit https://acaconnects.org/
