ACA Commends FCC On Vote Updating CAF II Rules

PITTSBURGH, December 11, 2014 – American Cable Association President and CEO Matthew M. Polka issued the following statement regarding the Federal Communications Commission’s vote today to update Connect America Fund II rules for receiving support to offer broadband in rural markets:

“ACA applauds the FCC’s action today to move the Connect America Phase II program forward.  This program is a major undertaking, which seeks to bring broadband to millions of unserved locations as rapidly and efficiently as possible.  That is not an easy task, and the FCC has worked long and hard to come to this point.  ACA may differ with the FCC on select aspects of the program but not the overall direction, and we intend to continue to work with the FCC to ensure unserved consumers get high-speed broadband in an efficient and fiscally responsible manner.”
