ACA Honored To Be Named To Federal Communications Commission’s Consumer Advisory Committee

PITTSBURGH, October 31, 2016 –  American Cable Association President and CEO Matthew M. Polka issued the following statement regarding ACA’s selection to serve on the Federal Communications Commission’s Consumer Advisory Committee:

“ACA is very pleased to be selected as a member of the Federal Communications Commission’s Consumer Advisory Committee (CAC).  Although small and mid-sized cable and broadband providers serve a vital role in the communications ecosystem, they have never been represented on the CAC.  As an established CAC member, ACA will be in position to fill that gap and represent and communicate the interests and needs of small and mid-sized providers and their customers.  ACA members have a unique perspective on consumer issues within the jurisdiction of the FCC, because their employees live and work in the communities they serve.”

“ACA has covered a wide range of issues where the CAC has submitted recommendations, such as Universal Service and the National Broadband Plan, closed captioning of video programming, truth in billing, the DTV Consumer Education Initiative, and backup power for customer premises equipment.  Ross J. Lieberman, Senior Vice President Government Affairs, will serve as ACA’s primary representative, with Mary Lovejoy, Vice President of Regulatory Affairs, acting as ACA’s alternative representative.”

About the American Cable Association: Based in Pittsburgh, the American Cable Association is a trade organization representing nearly 750 smaller and medium-sized, independent cable companies who provide broadband services for nearly 7 million cable subscribers primarily located in rural and smaller suburban markets across America.  Through active participation in the regulatory and legislative process in Washington, D.C., ACA’s members work together to advance the interests of their customers and ensure the future competitiveness and viability of their business.  For more information, visit https://acaconnects.org/
