ACA Intends To Participate In FCC’s Broadband Privacy NPRM

PITTSBURGH, March 11, 2016 –  American Cable Association President and CEO Matthew M. Polka issued the following statement regarding the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) on Internet privacy circulated yesterday by Federal Communications Commission Chairman Tom Wheeler:

“ACA intends to participate in this proceeding to educate the FCC about how its members are protecting the privacy of their broadband Internet customers today, consistent with the Communications Act and other governing laws. ACA’s intention also is to ensure that the rules adopted allow for innovation, do not disadvantage ISPs compared with other Internet actors, including edge providers, and are not burdensome for smaller ISPs.”
