ACA: Small Cable Operators Welcome Public Engagement On Promoting Internet Freedom

Policymakers Should be Encouraged to Reach Final Resolution on Issue that Takes Account of Everyone’s Views

PITTSBURGH, July 12, 2017 – ACA President and CEO Matthew M. Polka issued the following statement in response to the Net Neutrality Day of Action:

“ACA applauds the public’s involvement in the process.  This is an important issue, and everyone’s views count. ACA members have always been committed to an open internet that gives consumers the freedom to be in charge of their online experience. They do not block, throttle, or otherwise impair their customers activity, and along with continuing to invest in providing high-speed Internet service, these are commitments to their customers that they stand by.  Taking into account the views of all parties, we hope policymakers will reach a final decision on this matter that ensures an open Internet and promotes broadband and edge investment and innovation.”

About the American Cable Association: Based in Pittsburgh, the American Cable Association is a trade organization representing about 850 smaller and medium-sized, independent cable companies who provide broadband services for nearly 7 million cable subscribers primarily located in rural and smaller suburban markets across America.  Through active participation in the regulatory and legislative process in Washington, D.C., ACA’s members work together to advance the interests of their customers and ensure the future competitiveness and viability of their business.  For more information, visit https://acaconnects.org/
