PITTSBURGH, February 21, 2019 – The American Cable Association is pleased to announce that Federal Communications Commission Chairman Ajit Pai will be a keynote speaker at ACA’s 26th Summit on March 19-21 in Washington, D.C. It’s a return visit for Chairman Pai, who spoke last year at ACA’s 25th anniversary Summit and the prior year.

“We welcome Chairman Pai to ACA’s Summit for the third consecutive year as a keynote speaker. Since becoming Chairman two years ago, Mr. Pai has launched an aggressive agenda to foster the deployment of broadband network infrastructure, close the digital divide, and eliminate unnecessary regulations. We look forward to hearing the Chairman discuss his plans for upcoming FCC actions,” AC A President and CEO Matthew M. Polka said.

“So far, under Chairman Pai’s leadership, the FCC has eliminated Title II regulation of broadband Internet access service, facilitated pole attachments, awarded Connect America Fund support via reverse auction, and allocated substantial amounts of spectrum for 5G and unlicensed services. Moreover, he’s modernized media regulations,” said Polka.

Chairman Pai is scheduled to have a fireside chat with Polka on Thursday, March 21 at 8:20 a.m.

The theme for this year’s ACA Summit is “We Connect.” This year’s program will showcase how ACA members connect with their communities and customers as well as with policymakers at the FCC and in Congress.
Chairman Pai was designated FCC Chairman by President Donald J. Trump in January, 2017. In October, 2017, Chairman Pai won Senate confirmation to a new, five-year term. He had previously served as a Commissioner at the FCC, appointed by then-President Barack Obama and confirmed unanimously by the U.S. Senate in May 2012.

The ACA Summit is a truly special event that allows small and midsize broadband, phone and video providers that connect hometown America to engage with leading lawmakers and regulators as well as media representatives that report on communications policy in Washington, D.C.

Created in the early 1990s, the ACA Summit gives such independent companies a vehicle for framing the diverse and complex issues in their own words during dozens of meetings on Capitol Hill and with regulators at the FCC.

The ACA Summit website includes event details and secure online registration. Please visit the ACA Summit 2019 website by clicking here: ACA Summit.

The event will take place at the Grand Hyatt, 1000 H Street NW, Washington, D.C. 20001. This year’s Summit includes the annual “fly-in” to Washington with its members and, as such, will use the Twitter hashtag #Summit26 for all social media about the event.
