PITTSBURGH, February 15, 2012 – American Cable Association President and CEO Matthew M. Polka issued the following statement regarding the Federal Communications Commission’s vote today on VoIP outage reporting:
“ACA applauds the FCC for adopting reasonable VoIP outage reporting requirements that are aligned with its public policy goal of ensuring that consumers that utilize VoIP services have reliable access to emergency services. ACA is pleased that the FCC Order adopted today showed a willingness to respond to the concerns voiced by smaller VoIP providers, and ACA does not believe that the new reporting obligations will cause undue burdens on them.”
