American Cable Association Opens ACA Summit 2014 Website For Event Details, Registration

Portal Provides Key Information For April 1-3 Forum In Nation’s Capital

PITTSBURGH, December 6, 2013 — The American Cable Association is pleased to announce that the ACA Summit 2014 website with program and registration details is now active and will serve as the digital gateway to an exciting event in the heart of Washington, D.C., on April 1-3, putting the independent cable community in direct contact with America’s lawmakers, regulators and  telecommunications media.

“Do not miss the 21st annual ACA Summit because 2014 is going to be a special time for ACA Members to get their message across to Washington,” ACA President and CEO Matthew M. Polka said. “Next year, Congress is poised to extend a key satellite communications law amid great concern that retransmission consent blackouts and fee hikes need to be addressed in that must-pass piece of legislation.”

Please visit the ACA Summit 2014 website by clicking here: ACA Summit.  The event will take place at the Grand Hyatt, 1000 H Street NW, Washington, D.C. 20001.

The ACA Summit is a unique forum that highlights the special role that independent cable operators play in providing world class communications services in some of the most remote corners of the country. No one has a better handle on the critical broadband infrastructure needs of rural America than the independent cable operator.

The theme of this year’s summit – Our Time Is NOW! – underscores the important legislative goals ACA is pursuing on Capitol Hill, including new retransmission consent rules, sensible set-top box laws and broadband regulations that encourage network owners to support surging consumer demand.

“ACA represents about 850 independent cable providers at the center of major policy developments in Washington. The 2014 Summit is the perfect opportunity to stimulate debate and discussion on such important topics as government funding of rural broadband networks and updating the E-rate program so that our children receive a 21st Century education,” Polka said.

ACA Members view the Summit as the place to be for informing policymakers on their unique business concerns and demonstrating that policies designed for media giants are totally inappropriate and in many cases harmful to businesses with a strong rural profile.

“The Summit is an unmatched way to learn how ACA Members plan to take on the special interests,” Polka said.

The ACA Summit website includes event details and secure online registration. ACA is currently seeking exhibitors and sponsors for the event. Interested parties should contact Stacey Leech at [email protected] or 412.922.8300, ext. 15.
