ACA Connects Announces Commissioner Anna Gomez as Keynote Speaker at #Summit2024

January 29, 2024 ACA Connects President and CEO Grant Spellmeyer announced today Federal Communications Commissioner Anna M. Gomez will be a keynote speaker at the ACA Connects Annual Summit in Washington, D.C., on March 6, 2024. This annual fly-in event attracts broadband and video providers from across the country.

“I’m thrilled Commissioner Gomez will be joining us this year. I look forward to welcoming the Commissioner to her first ACA Connects Summit,” said Spellmeyer. “It’s an opportunity for our Members to engage with her on how we can work together to ensure small and rural providers can continue to operate in a regulatory environment that enables them to invest and innovate in their communities.”  

Commissioner Gomez was confirmed to serve at the FCC on September 7, 2023. She brings more than 30 years of public and private sector experience in domestic and international communications law and policy to her position. Commissioner Gomez most recently served as a Senior Advisor for International Information and Communications Policy in the Bureau of Cyberspace and Digital Policy at the Department of State.

She served as the National Telecommunications and Information Administration Deputy Administrator from 2009 to 2013, where she led efforts that resulted in a new $7 billion public safety broadband network program. She also served for 12 years in various positions at the FCC, including as Deputy Chief of the International Bureau and as Senior Legal Advisor to then-Chairman William E. Kennard. Commissioner Gomez also served briefly as Counsel to the United States Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, Subcommittee on Communication, and as Deputy Chief of Staff of the National Economic Council during the Clinton Administration. Prior to joining the State Department in 2023, Commissioner Gomez worked in private practice focusing on telecommunications law.

For the past 30 years, the Summit has provided ACA Connect Members with a forum to gain insight into business trends and policy developments, advocate for a level playing field, and engage with policymakers and industry leaders.

The theme for this year’s Summit is “Invest and Innovate.” The event will take place March 5-7 at the Grand Hyatt, 1000 H Street NW, Washington, D.C. 20001. More speakers are expected to be announced.
