December 12, 2024 – ACA Connects President and CEO Grant Spellmeyer today announced Federal Communications Commissioner Nathan Simington will be a keynote speaker at the ACA Connects Annual Summit in Washington, D.C., on March 5, 2025. This annual fly-in event attracts broadband and video providers from across the country.
Simington will speak about his regulatory philosophy, the state of the broadband and video marketplaces, the future of federal rulemaking in the wake of recent judicial decisions, and the Commission’s role in facilitating private investment in infrastructure development.
“I am happy Commissioner Simington will once again be joining us to share his valuable insights into the FCC during a pivotal year for broadband providers,” said Spellmeyer. “Our Members will greatly benefit in hearing from him about how the Commission is working to foster a regulatory regime that helps them invest in their networks, close the digital divide, and best serve their communities.”
Commissioner Simington has served on the FCC since 2020. He was previously Senior Advisor at the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), where he worked on many aspects of telecommunications policy, including spectrum allocation and planning, broadband access, and the federal government’s role in fostering a vibrant Internet ecosystem.
Prior to joining the FCC, he was senior counsel to Brightstar Corp., an international mobile device services company. In this capacity, he led and negotiated telecommunications equipment and services transactions with leading providers in over twenty countries. He previously worked as an attorney in private practice.
Commissioner Simington is a graduate of the University of Rochester and Lawrence University, and holds a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School.
The ACA Connects Annual Summit is a yearly gathering that provides a forum to its Members to gain insight into business trends and policy developments, advocate for a level playing field, and engage with policymakers and industry leaders.
The theme for this year’s Summit is “Imagine the Possibilities.” The event will take place March 4-6, 2025 at the Grand Hyatt, 1000 H Street NW, Washington, D.C. 20001. More speakers are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
