Weekly Member Update ep2

In this issue of the ACA Connects Weekly Update, John Higginbotham, EVP Member Services & Finance/Chief of Staff, notes that this week will be a busy one. John started by urging ACA Connects members to get out and vote in the Nov. 3 national and local elections. Stay tuned for news about the impact of the elections on our industry, he said.

ACA Connects members were also reminded by John about the monthly Member Update, which coincidentally also occurs Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. ET. The one-hour session will focus on, as usual, legal compliance matters and recent regulatory developments.

On Thursday, ACA Connects is also holding a webinar for Members on the new Truth-In-Billing law, which takes effect on Dec. 20, 2020. John urged Members to watch because it’s important for multichannel video programming distributors (MVPDs) to be taking the necessary steps now to ensure compliance. ACA Connects staff will be available to take questions. If you can’t make it, a replay will be available shortly on the ACA Connects website.

Finally, John urged Members to take full advantage of ACA Connects’ Retransmission Consent Toolkit on our website. The toolkit is designed to prepare video providers as best as possible for the difficult round of negotiations happening right now. The deal making is expected to go down to the wire – namely, Dec. 31, 2020.

Oh, before signing off John let it slip that he’s put some money down ahead of this weekend’s 37^th Breeders’ Cup horse racing championships at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, KY, not far down I-64 from John’s work-from-home abode in Winchester, KY. Tiz The Law will be running in the 1 1/4-mile contest that pays $6 million if the Belmont-winning colt can finish first.
