On the Road with ACACommunities – Mediacom Communications

In this video, ACA Connects chats with Corey Bowman, Area Director for Mediacom’s Cedar Rapids/Waterloo, lowa, market. Although Cedar Rapids might be best known as a giant in the corn-processing business, the community has a lot going in terms of high-speed broadband access owing to large and sustained investment by Mediacom, an ACA Connects member.

In recent years, Mediacom’s fiber deployment has concentrated on communities with up to 3,000 people, offering speeds ranging from 100 Mbps to 1 Gig. For business users, Mediacom speeds can reach 10 Gigs.

“The mission for Mediacom from the beginning has always been to provide advanced broadband services to those rural communities that are on par or better than what you can get in some of the larger cities across America,” Bowman says.

He also describes Mediacom’s new fixed wireless broadband business and the company’s ongoing relationship with many local partners and anchor institutions, especially schools during Covid-19 in developing virtual classrooms and low-cost broadband options for eligible K-12 families.

“Thankfully, we have the broadband network in place to meet those needs and to service those customers and get them the connection that they need as quickly as possible,” Bowman says.
