On the Road with ACACommunities – ImOn Communications

In this video, ACA Connects visits ACAC member ImOn Communications in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Under CEO Patrice Carroll, ImOn continues to deploy fiber and extend the advanced network into new communities. ImOn’s fiber-deep, passive HFC network means the broadband ISP can offer very reliable service and very high speeds, with the goal of adding additional addresses to the ImOn footprint.

ImOn is an award-winning provider of telecommunications services for residents and businesses in Eastern Iowa, offering advanced broadband services, digital TV, high-speed Internet, and phone services to both residents and businesses in Cedar Rapids, Marion, Hiawatha, Iowa City, and Dubuque, Iowa. In 2011, ImOn began building its fiber-optic network, and was the first company in the area to offer fiber-to-the-home services.

Over time, ImOn will make node upgrades and take steps to get to DOCSIS 3.1, again stressing speed and reliability. More so than the other technologies, fiber guarantees reliability, says CEO Carroll, who joined the company 14 years ago.

ImOn also wants to be known as the local provider and a neighborly one at that, meaning the company tries its best to adapt to new communities where it begins to offer service. Carroll said her team gets to know a new market by forming partnerships with local officials and prominent groups, which in time means ImOn becomes part of the fabric of these new communities.
